Louis Garneau Corsa Womens

The Corsa line is Louis Garneau's latest and greatest elite level cycling apparel offering. Below we cover the Corsa Jersey and Crosa Shorts individually to give you our specific thoughts on each.

Women's Corsa Jersey

WHAT YOU GET
A full-zip, short sleeve jersey with Garneau's Speed Tech, Carbon-X Mesh, and Lazer Rev fabrics. The jersey is a slim, elite/race cut, has three contoured back pockets, reflective piping, and SPF 50 protection.

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE
A slightly longer torso cut.

WHAT WE THINK
This is the Cadillac of race jerseys. Garneau has put together a very fine garment with no detail spared. If you have the funds, make this your entire cycling kit wardrobe!

Summary
At first glance, and more importantly first wear, it's very obvious that the folks at LG have put a ton of time and thought into the design of the Corsa Jersey. The fit is unmistakeably tuned for minimal drag and maximum comfort. One of the first things you'll notice is the mix of fabrics that are strategically placed over various parts of the jersey. Louis Garneau not only looked at rider position but also used wind tunnel testing to determine the best placement of seams and various fabrics to work with the rider to make you as efficient as possible.

The Corsa Jersey is a very finely styled and well-built garment. It consists of three types of fabrics to minimize drag and maximize efficiency, while providing sun protection and style. The color and aesthetic design of the jersey are simple, yet slick. The full zip provides the rider with air flow options for warmer days and added comfort. The three rear pockets are contoured to the small of your back, allowing the contents of the pockets to sit firmly in place without bouncing around or irritating your skin. The sleeves are very form-fitting, with the added benefit of compression and wind resistance.

Material:
Garneau uses Speed Tech, Carbon-X Mesh, and Lazer Rev fabrics; each performing a particular function for the jersey. The material is cool, comfortable, breathable, and appears to provide a good protective barrier in the event of a crash. One of our favorite features of this jersey is the lack of arm "grippers". Instead you get a laser-cut compression band that stays in place equally as well (if not better) and is more comfortable to boot.

Comfort:
The jersey was made for being comfortable in an aerodynamic position. Do not judge the comfort of this jersey when slouching at the breakfast table! This garment was designed to perform and therefore feels a little "restrictive" when you're not sitting on your bike. One potential draw-back may be its short torso cut. If you have a longer torso, you may consider a larger size or understand that the jersey may not fall where your less "aggressive" cut jerseys do.

Durability:
Appears to be of very high quality. The fabrics, seams, and stitching appear to be expertly-constructed.

Sizing:
The jersey sizing is similar to most company's "race" or "elite-cut" fits. You'll want to order the exact size that you are. A small fits a 5'4" frame at approximately 125lbs. If you have a longer torso or broader shoulders, consider going up to a medium.

Price Range
The Corsa Jersey is not cheap, get ready for a considerable dent to the ol' wallet. This line is comparable to other bands "elite" category of gear, very expensive but very nice.

TriBomb Bottom Line
The Louis Garneau Corsa Jersey is the last word in elite cycling apparel. If you can treat yourself to one magnificent item of cycling clothing, make it this stylish and very aggressive, elite jersey. You will feel fast and slick on your machine, especially in time-trial position!

Women's Corsa Shorts

WHAT YOU GET
Eight panel compressive fit shorts with minimal seams and the latest 4Motion Chamois.

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE
A larger selection of colors and perhaps some alternative (or smaller) graphics.

WHAT WE THINK
The Corsa shorts are the last word in REAL comfort on the bike. The shorts are perfectly designed and cut to form for a woman's body. The ultimate test for shorts is comfort for an hour or longer on the indoor trainer. The Corsa shorts passed with flying colors!

Summary
The first thing you will notice when you pull these shorts on is the comfort from the cut of the legs, the chamois, and maybe most of all, the waist. The waist line falls perfectly below the navel and above the hips, something other companies have rarely been able to master.

The legs are fairly long, which may turn some woman off these shorts. However, one ride will have you convinced that the longer cut of the shorts provide better compression and therefore may save you that little bit of fatigue. Finally, and probably what will sell these shorts, is the chamois. The chamois feels like it "tapers" out to the edges which means there isn't a "catch" between the chamois area and the leg. I believe this will greatly reduce saddle issues and save you from having to skip rides due to chafing and other unpleasant "issues".

Material:
The Corsa shorts combine Lycra Power and the Speed Tech, Carbon-X Mesh, and Lazer Rev fabrics used in the Corsa jersey to make a top quality pair of cycling shorts. There is a good balance between compression and give in the fabrics and the leg grippers are designed not to dig into your skin. The last thing that we want (we, being women) is our thighs bulging above and below the leg gripper. The Corsa short is designed so well that you will feel slim, aero, and aggressive.

Comfort:
Top notch. Having tried countless brands of shorts and bibs, with varying thickness and types of chamois, these are the last word in comfort.

Durability:
It appears as if these shorts will stand the test of time. The big question will be around how the chamois (and especially the seams) hold up over time. This tester believe that the Corsas will last you a long, long time.

Sizing:
Typical race/elite fit cycling kit. Aim for a medium short if you are an athletic and muscular build. A petite cyclist may want to go for the small but most female cyclists, with healthy, muscular builds will be happy in a medium.

Price Range
Same as above with the Corsa Jersey, the Corsa Shorts are at the upper end of cycling apparel pricing, however they are also at upper end of cycling comfort.

TriBomb Bottom Line
Garneau knows cycling, that's for sure. These shorts are going to make your rides an absolute pleasure and keep your mind and attention on the road and the attacks instead of shifting around on your seat to find a comfortable position. Invest in several pairs of the Corsa shorts if you spend a lot of time on an indoor trainer. Your workouts will be of a higher quality due to the comfort and performance of these shorts!
