Louis Garneau Men's Corsa Jersey

WHAT YOU GET
A pimped-out full-zip, short sleeve jersey with an emphasis on real world functionality and drag minimization.

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE
More color options. A little more resistance to snags.

WHAT WE THINK
Pretty much a home run in our opinion. An aero-optimized design, comfortable fit, and looks sweet...what's not to like?

Summary
If you've been around the triathlon or cycling world for any time at all you have probably owned something from Louis Garneau, from helmets to shoes there's not much this company doesn't make. Our experience with Garneau gear has been very good overall, they make quality stuff, and the new Corsa line of cycling gear is no exception.

At first glance, and more importantly first wear, it's very obvious that the folks at LG have put a ton of time and thought into the design of the Corsa Jersey. The fit is unmistakeably tuned for minimal drag and maximum comfort. One of the first things you'll notice is the mix of fabrics that are strategically placed over various parts of the jersey. Louis Garneau not only looked at rider position but also used wind tunnel testing to determine the best placement of seams and various fabrics to work with the rider to make you as efficient as possible.

We think the Corsa Jersey has upped the ante when it comes to aerodynamic cycling apparel. The full zip provides the rider with air flow options for warmer days and added comfort.

The three rear pockets are contoured to the small of your back, allowing the contents of the pockets to sit firmly in place without bouncing around or irritating your skin.

The sleeves are very form-fitting, with the added benefit of compression and wind resistance.

The sleeves of the Corsa jersey are compressive and are a little longer cut than a standard jersey, going along with the whole drag reduction theme. We are big fans of this type of sleeve.

Material:
Garneau uses Speed Tech, Carbon-X Mesh, and Lazer Rev fabrics; each performing a particular function for the jersey and creating various "zones" to deal with airflow over particular parts of the body. This jersey is tight by design, the materials used have a good bit of compression built in to them.

Speed Tech - This material makes up the bulk of the jersey. A dimpled fabric designed to minimize wind resistance.

Carbon-X Mesh - You'll see this breathable material in areas like the underarm where maximum ventilation is needed.

Lazer Rev - This is the awesome sleeve material that allows the sleeves to be completely seam free. We're all about giving annoying arm grippers the boot!

Comfort:
The jersey was made for being comfortable in an aerodynamic position. Pretty much every square inch of this jersey is tuned to provide better rider comfort while in the saddle. We have tried a butt-load (that's a lot) of jerseys and this one can hold its own with any we've tested.

Durability:
We've only been testing the Corsa line for a short time. However, the construction appears to be top-notch as is usually the case with LG, we have Garneau gear that has survived many years of abuse. The only part that we can see being a potential area of concern is the body of the jersey which seems to be susceptible to snags (a couple are visible below) and abrasions.

Sizing:
The jersey sizing is definitely a race cut, which we prefer, the last thing we want in a jersey is a parachute of material flapping in the breeze. If you are looking for a "club" or "relaxed fit" jersey, look elsewhere. Whether your sporting six pack abs or a keg sized beer belly everyone will know what your working with in this jersey. Our sample was spot on as far as sizing is concerned.

Price Range
The Corsa Jersey is getting close to the stratosphere of cycling apparel pricing, but it sure is nice. Bring your man-sized George Costanza wallet for this transaction, it's worth it.

TriBomb Bottom Line
One of the nicest jerseys you'll find. Add in the benefit of a low drag design and you'd be hard pressed to find a better option.

Men's Corsa Bib Shorts

WHAT YOU GET
Eight-panel compressive fit bib with minimal seams, a nice mix of fabrics, and the latest 4Motion Chamois.

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE
How this bib holds up after some long term use and a few more color options.

WHAT WE THINK
The Corsa Bib is a true player, it combines compression, comfort, and class.

Summary
The Corsa cycling bib has all the elements you want in a top quality cycling bib and is missing many of the things you don't want. This bib uses Lycra Power which is designed to give you the benefits of a compressive fit to support muscles and promote good blood flow. The Corsa also removes annoying seams from the inner leg area and ditches old school leg grippers in favor of laser-cut leg bands. You'll also notice the mix of fabrics designed to minimize drag and increase comfort.

Material:
Lycra Power - Compressive fit to support muscles and encourage circulation.

Speed Tech - A dimpled fabric designed to minimize wind resistance.

Carbon-X Mesh - A breathable material that allows for maximum ventilation.

Lazer Rev - The material at the leg opening that allows this bib to be "gripperless".

Comfort:
Quite possibly the most important aspect of the one thing that comes between your "manhood" and your saddle is the comfort factor. This particular bib does a great job of keeping you in the saddle where you belong, rather than constantly shifting to try and find a sweet spot.

The Corsa bib has Garneau's 4Motion Chamois and it's a good one. This chamois is designed to move and flex with your body and provide a nice barrier between rider and machine. You'll notice the four front vents and large rear vent designed to keep fire-crotch syndrome at bay.

The chamois is thick, but it seems to do a good job of tapering out in the right areas so that you get good protection without unwanted rubbing or other issues. You can also see the large channel down the middle of the chamois to help relieve pressure in the nether region.

Durability:
So far so good, typical LG quality. This bib seems to be very well built, but many more miles are needed for any long-term judgement call.

Sizing:
Our samples were pretty much spot on.

Price Range
This line is comparable to other bands "elite" category of gear, very expensive but very nice.

TriBomb Bottom Line
Already a TriBomb favorite, it's obvious a great deal of thought went into the design of this line.
